The Girl

Once upon a time there was a girl. An ordinary girl, obsessed with origination. The girl’s father loved her deeply and indulged her obsession, involving her in his work at the Watson-Crick Institute of bioengineering, where he taught as a professor.
Then came the coup. A crypto-facist organisation called the Palingenites seized power and academics and dissidents, including the girls’s parents were taken. The rest of population was controlled through social engineering and censorship, and society was hieracically reorganised into castes. Multiconlomerate companies owned by Palingenite council members were awarded the highest castes. Dissidents and academics the lowest.
And so the girl found herself on the streets. Starving and alone. Sucked into the underbelly of society, an outcaste, desperate and vulnerable, forced into the Soi Ojousan brothel, run by the NeoYakusa crime syndicate.
She was close to taking her life, when she met The Boy. The Boy taught her that love was dependable and real. Before the boy, love was exchanged for survival, because those who made a profit from her would make sure she was fed, and not damaged too much.
The rest of her story, is for another time.
